We're arrived in Lexington, KY yesterday.

This is Grandma and Grandpa's (my parents) new house. It's gorgeous and I'm jealous.

This is my Aunt Carolyn's new house. She lives on the same street.
They both moved into this brand new neighborhood around 6 months ago.
We got the VIP tour of both houses. Did I mention I love these little homes?

Along the sidewalk leading to my aunt's front door are these stones.

This is the "word theme" for our trip. It's cool.

We took the Jeep out to Wal-Mart this morning.

This is my new Jeep. It's lovely. . .[sigh].
This is me unlocking the doors for the first time.

Oops. I pressed the wrong button.
This is me paying attention to what I'm doing.

This is me getting ready to back out of the driveway.
(That's my Mom in the backseat.)

Here we are in the Wal-Mart parking lot. I'm the one on the right.

Isn't my Jeep the cutest thing you've ever seen?

Today's Contest:

I've decided I need to name my Jeep. Any ideas? If I use your suggestion, I'll send you a prize, but I reserve the right to reject all suggestions because the name of your car is such an important thing, after all.

When i was in HS, my friend Drew Graham had an Isuzu Trooper, which was that same exact color. Trooper's name was MOSES. My car was the same color, but it was much more of a girly car, so he named my car Miriam, which is like Moses's sister or girlfriend or cousin or something. So I say Miriam. Because that's just cool.

Or? Orrrrrr.... you could name it Verbena, b/c Verbena is a tiny little red flower that packs some power.

Steve votes you should name it Rut because... it just fits. Or Big Red. Because that fits too. OR, he says, if it's a GIRL, you should name it Rosy. I personally think Rosy is a bit on the LAME side.

I know, MITZI!

It's like you just got your driver's license 10 minutes ago.

She looks like a Ruby or Maeve. Or possibly Belleza (beauty in Spanish).

OH, you got a car where you get to push a button to unlock it!!! Be sure to let Jim play with it when you get back.

Car names, hmmm, the first thing that came to my mind was the name of my sister's first car- Buffy. I think it suits a car that belongs to you.

by the way, does McKenna know how you really feel about Verbena?

I think your jeep is very cute and I think "she" looks like a Bridget.

First thing that came to mind was JIMMY.
Good luck naming.

I'm no good at naming cars, and the only thing that occurred to me was The Beach Boy, because then you can say, "It's not much, but I Get Around."

Or Beep. Beep the Jeep.

*watches Karlene run screaming into the night*

Was it something I said?

For some reason. As I was thinking of a name. Looking at the jeep. The word "mercy" popped into my head. Like Elvis. Like, "Aww, Mercy! You are b-e-a-utiful!"

If you like it, call it inspiration. If you don't, it's waaay too early and I didn't get enough sleep. Either way I think I'm covered.

Jim would appreciate Dawg. In honor and remembrance of his once happy and intact marriage.

Verbena (the only scent in the box that I truly, deeply loathe) is OUT. As is Rut, Maeve, Jimmy and Beach Boy. Sorry to those who suggested them. But you're welcome to try again. I probably won't choose a name until I get home because I need to get to know HER better. (Yes, it is a her.)

And yes, McKenna. It does feel like I'm a teenager again--especially when Grandpa took me out driving yesterday to teach me what all the buttons did.

Oops. That last comment was me, Karlene. I forgot I was logged in as Megan.

My immediate reaction to the name game was "Ruby." (but someone else beat me to it)

My next two thoughts were "jeepers" and "Reep-a-cheep" (as in the warrior mouse from Prince Caspian, but I don't remember how to spell it)

me, myself, and I said...

I vote for "Bubba". You got it in Kentucky, right?

My son says "Hot Reddy" and my daughter say "Hot Tamale" as for me Jeepney.

Jealous. You've already got a lot of good name suggestions. I'm not sure what I could add. My first thought was "Cherry" because it's red and it's a cherokee.

What a fun trip! I've been following along...how about "Jeepster"
I know, not very feminine, but it's the first thing that came to mind. :)

I KNEW the Jeep was a girl! I used to name all my cars, too. I drove Louise, Betty, Arthur, and Eleanor. Good times.

I vote for a human name, and for some reason, Marlie is sticking out me. Or Marie. Or something. Since I can get to "know" her, it's harder to pick a name!

Augusta, which according to my baby name book, is Latin and means "Majestic."

Aurelia, Latin again, meaning "golden."

Bibi, Arabic for "lady."

That was me again with Bibi, by the way.

Callista, Greek, for "most beautiful."

And one last one before I have to get on with my own stuff.

Cordelia, Welsh, jewel of the sea. Everybody sing along to the Bumblebee tuna tune here: "What's the best auto, jewel of the sea!"

Or Cassandra, Greek, for "helper of men." And what else is a car, anyway, if not a great helper?

Lucille says: Leapin Lizard or Leapin' Leney.

I left name suggestions earlier, but the name "lightning" keeps coming to mind. (Probably because I loved the movie "Cars" and the theme song from the movie is also "life is a highway"

I was doing some research on Russian names recently while writing a fanfic, and came across Dazdapetrak, which literally means "the first tractor." Although on second thought, you probably don't want to insult your jeep by calling it a tractor. Still, how about Daz or even Dazzle? Or Dazlious, as we heard in the film Snow Cake?
