Forks or Bust: Day 10

Last day in Coeur d'Alene. Today we went to the Painter's Chair Fine Art Gallery. We decided we needed something more cultural after the crazy day at the theme park yesterday.

Painter's Chair represents over thirty artists and their paintings, glassworks, sculptures and photography. I immediately gravitated to this one:

Three Dog Night by Karl Lansing

Seems fitting, considering the trip we're on.

There were so many beautiful paintings in this gallery—still lifes, landscapes, seascapes, florals, animals—in a variety of styles—classic, realistic, impressionistic, fantasy. It was absolutely breathtaking!

I prefer portraits. There's something about a captured face that sends my imagination soaring, wondering what their story is. A few of them inspired thoughts of new characters or books. Here are some of my favs.

Camille by Manaz

Open Door, also by Manaz

(I know for a fact that Carlisle has these two prints in his medical office.
It reminds him of his early pre-vamp days.)

Untitled by Tina Palmer

(No, this is not a portrait, but still...it's cool.)

I totally fell in love with Rob Gonsalves' work. It was surprising and imaginative and made you think, too.

Carved in Stone by Rob Gonsalves

New Moon Eclipsed by Rob Gonsalves

Couldn't have found a more perfectly titled painting!

So now we're hurriedly packing up for a quick flight down to LA for the Eclipse Convention. We'll be there for the weekend and then fly back to Coeur d'Alene early Monday morning. We're hoping to get lots of photo ops and autographs! Wish us luck.

Today's Travel Question:

You've been asked to select a piece of artwork
from the Painter's Chair Gallery for
one of the Twilight characters.
Which piece do you pick, for whom, and why?

There's a new release by Shortridge that has deer in it. The Cullen's might hang it in their kitchen.
