I started this blog two years ago. I'm tempted to be down on myself for not having finished the de-junking project yet.
But I have to remember, it took me 50 years to get in this place, it may take some time to get out of it.
I have done a lot of work—and I'm proud of that. Some of it has been internal—changing thought processes and habits. For example, remember this? My Career Planning Chart?
That's what it looked like back in June 2009.
Here's what it looks like now:
Big change, huh?
Basically, I closed down (or am in the process of closing down) all side businesses. I now have only three areas of focus:
- Publishing—I'm relaunching Rosehaven with a new marketing plan that is more cutting edge and can survive the changes in the publishing world.
- Writing—My writing (fiction and curriculum). I have taken off all the blogs I did for side businesses and hobbies. The ones that are left are all business related or for my own personal benefit (more memory joggers, like this one). The exceptions are the four blogs I ghost write. But I pared those down from nine.
- LibrisPro—This is the former Professional Pre-Press, redesigned to focus on books and author services. This is my source of income for right now.
I still have lots of work to do before I can say I'm "done"—and really, there is no such thing as "done." Life is ever-changing and so dejunking and reorganizing will always be a part of it. But I'm determined to get the huge chunk of it done so that I can live a freer and more streamlined life, focusing on the people and the work that I love.
